Overview

SSOE is seeking a Senior Process Mechanical Engineer with experience leading an engineering design team from preliminary engineering through construction.

Required skills include the development, completion of engineering calculations, equipment sizing, selection, and preparation of equipment and construction specifications.

Coordination with multi-discipline engineering and design teams is needed to deliver design and construction deliverables.

Responsibilities

A Typical Day Might Include :

  • Leading engineering studies, writing reports, and developing and completing engineering calculations.
  • Preparing designs for plant installations, coordinating with design / drafting staff, and preparing equipment and construction specifications.

Specifications will include major items of rotating equipment such as boilers, compressors, turbines, and pumps. Other equipment will include pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other manufacturing equipment.

  • Working as a team leader to complete designs, including working with PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Coordinating with multi-discipline engineering and design teams to complete necessary project tasks.
  • Leading the preparation of bid packages and equipment purchasing.
  • Delivering quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment collaborating with colleagues and clients.
  • Representing the firm in meetings and conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate a project.
  • Planning, developing, coordinating, and directing a medium to large engineering project or a number of smaller complex projects with overall responsibility for budget adherence, schedule adherence, quality control, and inter-discipline coordination.
  • Being responsible for acceptance or rejection of major items involving materials, equipment, manufacturer's quality, and field construction.
  • Defining project scope of work and organizing into manageable tasks.
  • Maintaining continuing professional education in discipline.
  • Participating in client contact and business development activities.
  • Meeting with clients to define project scope, present project progress, and assure client satisfaction.
  • Performing field work to support the above responsibilities.
  • Travel required.

Qualifications

Qualifications You'll Need on Day One :

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • PE, or PE-tracked preferred, plus 10+ years of related practical experience with former employer(s).
  • Previous experience in the A / E industry is a must.
  • Familiarity with ASME process piping codes B31.1 & B31.3 & similar required. Additionally, experience with Caesar II stress analysis software is a plus.
  • Must have good writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.
  • Salary Range : $90,000-$120,000 / year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
