Hayes Barton UMC in Raleigh seeks a part-time Director of Contemporary Music who will serve as a worship leader and planner and Band Leader for a popular Sunday morning worship service (9am Sundays and 5 : 30pm Christmas Eve), and work as part of a Creative Arts Team to provide musical and arts opportunities to a multi-generational congregation.
Coordinates the LightHouse Worship Service Planning Team :
- Assists in planning the order for weekly worship in a team environment with Planning Team members including consultation with the presiding pastor.
- Complies, disseminates, and assigns tasks as dictated from weekly worship plans
- Visions the long-term artistic direction for LightHouse
Manages all facets of the LightHouse Worship and Youth Praise Bands :
- Writes / updates / distributes all charts, lyric sheets and reference recordings in PlanningCenter
- Develops and recruits new and existing musicians as vocalists, instrumentalists and worship leaders
- Provides individual coaching in technical skill and musicianship for the youth praise band
- Schedules / facilitates all rehearsals balancing members’ and church master calendars
- Recruits, develops and schedules supporting personnel for weekly LightHouse worship including ProPresenter operator and audio engineer positions
- Manages all copyright compliance and reporting
Acts as the contemporary worship liaison for the Creative Arts Ministry in church-wide special events. Manages and schedules musicians and media personnel for such events.
Requirements : Reads, writes and modifies charts; improvises and directs music. Instrumental proficiency is preferred.
