The Buyer will lead cross-functional teams in developing and impementing sourcing strategies and initiatives for assigned categories.

Includes negotiating contracts for lowest total cost with focus on total value. This position is part of the global dsm-firmenich Food & Beverage Purchasing organization.

This is for Direct Spend commodities / services.

Responsibilities :

  • Member of Cross Functional Sourcing Team. Works in close collaboration with other BG Buyers, Contract Managers, Call-off Employees, Planning, Quality, Regulatory, R&D and Accounts Payable.
  • Develops commodity and supplier strategies to achieve year-over-year cost reduction results through supplier collaboration and competition.
  • Creates project plans, implementation strategies, and execution plans in conjunction with stakeholders.
  • Proactively organize sessions with stakeholders to identify further total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction opportunities.
  • Lead supplier development activities by facilitating cross-functional review meetings with suppliers to improve performance and further reduce cost.
  • Ensure that the strategic category assigned is sourced by applying the Strategic Sourcing Methodology (SSM) process.
  • Negotiate all commercial requirements and follow competitive bidding procedures when necessary to ensure the lowest total cost for specific materials.
  • Develops contingency plans for critical materials and / or strategic suppliers.

You Bring :

  • A four-year college degree, preferably in Business Administration, Food Sciences, Commerce, Physical Sciences, Biotechnology, or other disciplines relevant to the Food Industries.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain.
  • Strategic sourcing experience required,
  • Previous experience working with SAP; proficient using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • International business experience a plus; domestic and international meat and dry dairy products industry markets preferred.
  • Fluency in reading / writing Spanish required.
  • Ability to travel internationally 2-3x a year (typically South America).
