Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).
Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
This role will be will work closely with mechanical and controls engineering teams to develop creative solutions to take this program for R&D, though design validation and into production.

The starting pay for this role in Washington State is up to $42 / hour and employees are eligible for incremental raises based on tenure.

A day in the life
The Controls Technician will work closely with mechanical and controls engineering teams to implement industrial automation and control equipment for the success of Project Kuiper.

About the team
The Kuiper Tooling Operations (KTO) team is responsible for commissioning tooling and automation equipment for Satellite testing and production.
This is a team of engineers and technicians to provide in-house unique and creative solutions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2 years working experience with installing, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintaining industrial controls equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- 1+ years experience with reading, interpreting, and executing electrical schematics and drawings
- 1+ years experience with general electrical safety practices such as lock-out / tag-out, PPE, etc. for system up to 480 VAC
- Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions, stand / walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or certificate in a related field
- 3+ years working in a manufacturing environment, using basic hand and power tools
- Experience with motor wiring, commissioning, tuning, and troubleshooting including Variable Frequency Drives and Servo Control
- Experience in electrical control layout design and schematic
