General Manager Main Responsibilities

General Manager Job Description

We are looking for General Manager candidates with remarkable skills, who will run a store effectively and with attention to detail.

Our General Managers provide quality products to our customers by creating an excellent team which maintains Papa John’s standards and accurately reflects the customer’s order.

They professionally and promptly respond to all customers concerns or issues. Additionally, General Manager candidates build brand loyalty by soliciting customer feedback.

Then sharing that feedback with their team and using it to improve restaurant operations.

We expect our General Managers to communicate, train, and promote quality standards to team members by utilizing all available tools, including PIZZAcademy, the Operations Manual, and the Team Member Handbook.

Through effective coaching and development, General Manager candidates will build an atmosphere of teamwork, energy and fun.

Alternatively, they will document performance issues and take appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Understanding and meeting sales goals and budget needs against the prior year's performance are essential. General Manager candidates must provide prompt and friendly customer service, build check averages through suggestive selling, and seek additional sales through traditional and non-traditional methods such as creative local marketing and developing a positive presence in the community.

More importantly, a perfect store manager candidate should be reliable, accommodating, courteous, and friendly to ensure that the customers are fully satisfied.

General Manager Requirements

  • Actively recruiting customer focused team members
  • Maintaining adequate staffing levels according to projected sales
  • Properly orienting and training team members to exceed customer expectations
  • Ensuring compliance with uniform and appearance standards, establish and communicate performance expectations
  • Conducting timely and effective performance reviews
  • Executing administrative and cash management duties
  • Planning and managing adequate inventory levels using the restaurant’s computerized inventory system to meet sales demands and minimize loss
  • Managing company’s assets by ensuring the restaurant is clean, fully equipped and all equipment operates properly
  • Ensuring restaurant meets safety and security standards at all times
  • Overseeing preventative maintenance and repairs when necessary
  • Managing profit goals against budget and the prior year
  • Ensuring food, labor, and other controllable costs stay within budget
  • Correcting deviations from the budget by accurately utilizing the FOCUS System
  • Developing and implement appropriate plans to resolve unfavorable trends and enhance profits
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations
  • Preparing promotional displays and materials
  • Liaising with upper management
  • Providing opportunities for staff advancements
