The TV Program Director manages program planning, scheduling, and distribution across all WOSU-operated television services.
Ensure that shows, programs, interstitial, and digital content are appropriately scheduled and checked for quality and appropriateness.
Develops and approves operational plans to select programming; recommends and negotiates acquisitions to meet programming goals.
Preparing budgets and monitoring expenses. Researching and analyzing viewership and market research on programming to evaluate both present and future TV programming strategies.
Highly skilled at organizing and coordinating multiple activities. Supervises the TV programming area, assigning tasks and roles to team members;
hires and evaluates professional and support staff; design, establish and interpret policies. Managing and coordinating on-air elements between organization department areas.
Prepare reports, proposals, and other program related material. Presenting reports to management on programming and distribution activities.
Attend public television meetings / webinars related to television programming. Perform other programming related work as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree may be desirable. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management position supervising TV programming related areas required.
8-12 years of relevant experience in major market public television TV programming or content production preferred. Project management and leadership experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possesses critical thinking and decision-making abilities. Able to delegate tasks confidently and work with a team.
