ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

Alumni & Stakeholder Engagement has an exciting opening for an Associate Director for Marketing and Communications. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Associate Director for Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading a comprehensive marketing and communications program for the Alumni and Stakeholder Engagement organization.

The Associate Director for Marketing and Communications will work closely with ASE leadership on strategy and planning and serve as a lead project manager for ASE marketing and communications efforts, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders .

This position reports to the Director for Marketing and Communications and supervises ASE’s creative team and creative vendors.

What You Will Do :

Marketing and Communications (50%)

  • In partnership with ASE marketing leadership, serve as project lead on marketing and communications work plans, including overseeing and directing creative operations to ensure the successful and on time completion of projects.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and evaluation of ASE marketing and communications planning and production process.
  • Integrate brand standards and identity into all marketing and communications collateral, online messaging and electronic communications.
  • Collaborate with the Resource Development team to fulfill sponsorship and partnership activations, assets and acknowledgments.

This includes incorporating their recognition in ongoing digital and print communications, as well as dedicated event and / or programming recognition.

Collaborate on internal stakeholder communication needs, including, but not limited to, e-newsletters, web pages (both UWAA and UW Magazine), annual reports, executive messages and potential fundraising initiatives.

Supervision and Administration (40%)

  • Supervise and oversee the work of two content media editors and creative vendors (graphic designers, writers, etc.).
  • Monitor compliance with production schedules, proof process and suggest modifications to production process for purposes of streamlining and providing clarity.
  • Collaborate to produce reports, including data gathering and analysis and present to key audiences.
  • Manage marketing budgets, working closely with staff to monitor, analyze and report out.

Other duties as assigned 10%

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, writing, English, business or related field AND four years of marketing and communications experience, including project management experience.

Equivalent education / experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license / certification / registration.

  • Demonstrated ability to align business strategy with marketing and communications planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and achieve comprehensive team goals; ability to accurately forecast and develop both short- and long-term goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for generating correspondence, special reports, spreadsheets and design / photography software and applications.
  • A valid Washington State driver's license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally for event setup and tear down.

  • This position requires a flexible schedule as the workload and times may vary, including evenings or weekends.
  • Cubicle / open workspace environment may result in higher noise levels and visual distractions.
  • Travel out-of-state up to six times annually for events scheduled on evenings and weekends; ability to travel internationally, if necessary.
