Overview
The successful candidate will directly supervise the Rail Services business and employees at the site location of employment and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance;
rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Functional Description
- Supervise the daily activities at the Rail Services facility to include managing personnel and assets in a safe and cost-efficient manner
- Responsible for all monthly reporting on project engineering, warranty, materials and financial budgetary issues
- Ensure the timely set up of the site with manpower, machinery and materials as required
- Understand the requirements of the contract and plan / prepare for the site set up and commissioning, spare material availability and supplier support staff
- Manage and provide technical training to stakeholders when required
- Test the functionality of the vehicles
- Uploading and downloading programs using a laptop to troubleshoot and test train systems.
- Control and manage site Maintenance Management System
- Responsibility for customer satisfaction and all local customer feedback
- Develop relationship with suppliers to facilitate resolution of any warranty and technical issues with the equipment
- Other duties as required and assigned
Training / Education Required
- BA / BS Degree from an accredited university
- MUST BE able to read and understand engineering drawings / schematics
- Previous experience in CAF Power (TCMS and Traction) and Knorr-Bremse (Brakes, Doors and HVAC) equipment highly desirable
- Experience in the rail after-market field / maintenance / overhaul or a comparable industrial environment in a warranty role essential.
- Training will be provided at existing operational facilities
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a Plus

Qualifications / Requirements
- Self-Starter capable of resolving technical issues as they arise and / or coordinating and implementing solutions with the support of the engineering office.
- Experience running warranty returns, spare part requisitions, store management, logistics control ideal.
- Ability to work with customers at both top management and workshop floor levels
- Technical skills and understanding essential rail components and systems; hands on experience a plus
- Ability to read and understand schematics
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Safety Requirements
- Shall report all injuries / illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
- Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor
- Shall comply with all CAF USA safety policies, procedures, and requirements that are communicated to them, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
- Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
- Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
- Shall attend all CAF USA required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
- Shall NOT operate any CAF USA equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so
