We are seeking a Manager to join our Hair Color & Texture Development team in our L'Oreal Research & Innovation function to lead our Hair Color Development efforts for Matrix in our Professional Products Division.
This role will report out of our Clark, New Jersey Research & Innovation Headquarters.
As a Manager in Hair Color & Texture Development,your main responsibilities are :
- Establish departmental goals and objectives.
- Monitor and oversee all work against projects.
- Evaluate technical staff based upon performance compared to the above goals and objectives.
- Proactively build and execute a plan to upgrade current products to new technologies with the objective to maintain competitiveness and sustainability at any time.
- Lead, develop and grow a team of scientists, develop a career plan and recommend training and developmental activities for all department staff, identify new educational opportunities and assure that all recommended activities occur and are followed up to measure impact.
- Track the progress of all ongoing projects, verify schedules, launch dates, and other requirements, and act as needed to maintain direction and timing, consistent with plans.
- Develop and maintain a compatible and open working relationship with all other departments including Marketing, scale-up, Manufacturing, Product Safety, international peers, etc.
- Serve as a "creative catalyst" at the R&I / Brand Marketing interface.
- Identify issues with new / existing products for R&I management.
- Coordinate scale-up and initial successful commercial manufacture of new products with L'Oreal or contract manufacturing personnel.
- Play a major role in the development of overall Hair Color Dev goals, objectives, and strategies.
- Recommend strategies for implementation of group's goals and objectives.
- Serve as the technical resource in all Hair Color products.
To Succeed In This Position, you have :
- A completed Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science is required. Masters or PhD preferred.
- years of relevant experience in consumer products R&D and product formulation, with at least + years of Hair Color R&D product formulation is required.
- Experience with consumer or professional Hair Color products, preferred.
- Supervisory experience with management of direct reports preferred.
- Experience in leadership role is desirable
- The ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects, and work with various groups within a matrixed organization.
- Learning agility to be adept at giving technical presentations to large groups of professionals.
- Familiarity with testing methodology and procedures.
- Fluency in French is a plus.
- The ability to be onsite, in the office as this is an essential function of the position
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for legal sponsorship now or in the future (required).
