job_description.job_card.job_descriptionRapidly work through 8D / DFSS processes including problem definition, root cause identification and verification, implementation of interim and permanent corrective actions, validation, read across and prevention of recurrence. Present project status and results to senior management; collaborate with quality, powerpack and core engineers and TSs; maintain project documentation (1-pagers, 6-panels, 8D reports, management summaries, etc.). Perform warranty data / trend analysis, part return analysis, and apply physical understanding of engine / powertrain systems to identify root causes and corrective actions. Design, execute, or coordinate analytical and physical testing from component bench level to full powertrain / vehicle testing to identify root causes, replicate issues, and validate fixes. Leverage serviceability-focused knowledge to improve repair efficiency and reduce cost per repair; identify opportunities for lower-cost repairs. Identify and document lessons learned for knowledge preservation. Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. 2+ years of experience leading projects. 2+ years of experience with internal combustion engines or after-treatment systems in Design, Test, Controls, or Calibration. 6-Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt and DFSS experience a plus. Knowledge of key engine and powertrain subsystems (base engine, cooling, airpath, fuel, after-treatment, etc.). Strong project management, problem solving, and organization skills. Excellent teamwork and communication skills; self-starter with the ability to manage multiple work streams. Willingness to take on new challenges and learn. Familiarity with Ford's Strategic Problem-Solving tools (root cause identification tools such as y=f(x), stress / strength interference, 3-legged / 5-Why, etc.). Familiarity with Ford's Failure Mode Avoidance and Robustness and Reliability processes (P-Diagram, DFMEA, RCL, etc.). Familiarity with Ford's quality tools including GSAR, MWATS, Quality AI, etc.

Powertrain Engineer - High Time in Service Quality role at Ford Motor Company
Location : Auburn Hills, MI. Salary range : $61,700 - $70,000. This position is hybrid and may require onsite four or more days per week for commuting distance to a Ford hub location.
Responsibilities
- Lead / support High Time in Service Quality Projects using 8D / Design for Six Sigma processes on aggressive timelines to support IPTSE's warranty spend and failure rate reduction targets.
- Evaluate high warranty spend / failure rate subsystems and engine / vehicle applications with a focus on issues that contribute to >
12 months in service warranty and / or are typically design / physics related.
