SUMMARY
Responsible for the programming, operation, and utilization of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and conventional measurement equipment. Acts as the owner of the gage system, ensuring calibration, maintenance, and measurement system studies are completed to meet customer, IATF 16949, and internal requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
CMM Operation & Programming
- Fully and knowledgeably program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (Mitutoyo Geo Measure, PC DMIS)
- Extract and utilize CAD data for CMM applications.
- Interpret blueprints and apply GD&T principles.
Inspection & Measurement
Perform dimensional layouts and prepare inspection reports.Use conventional measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.Calibrate and verify measuring and test equipment.Facilitate correct use of inspection equipment by others.Gage Management
Ensure annual calibration of all gages is completed per schedule.Plan and lead Gage R&R and MSA studies, including study design, sample planning, and review of results.Execution of studies to be performed by Quality Engineers under this person’s direction.
Oversee gage maintenance and repair, coordinating with Tool & Die for replacement pins, fixtures, and modifications as required.Manage 3rd-party calibrations, including requesting quotes, scheduling, and maintaining vendor communication.Manage gage records using GageTrak or equivalent system, including calibration status, maintenance history, and study documentation.Quality Systems Support
Perform capability studies on measuring and test equipment.Assist APQP team with PPAP preparation and submission.Provide measurement data to support corrective actions and continuous improvement projects.Compliance & Workplace
Comply with company handbook, customer-specific requirements, and OSHA regulations.Maintain good housekeeping and organization of the quality lab.Ensure regular and prompt attendance.Perform other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None required.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and / or experience
High school diploma or equivalent related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Technical training or equivalent experience in metrology, CMM operation, and measurement systems preferred.Experience in automotive quality systems (IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP) preferred.Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general operating instructions, production schedules, quality requirements, etc.Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.Ability to apply basic statistical concepts in relation to Gage R&R and MSA studies.Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems. Required to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.Certificate, Licenses, Registrations
