POSITION SUMMARY
The HR Generalist will serve as the primary point of contact for all Human Resources functions at Redwood RE Management, supporting approximately 20+ employees across property management and corporate operations. This role reports directly to executive leadership and provides end-to-end HR support including recruitment, onboarding, compliance, payroll coordination, benefits administration, employee relations, and performance management.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, resourceful, and capable of balancing day-to-day HR administration with strategic initiatives that align with company goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for corporate and property-level positions, from job posting to offer letter.
- Coordinate background checks, employment verifications, and new hire onboarding.
- Conduct new hire orientations and ensure completion of all required documentation.
Employee Relations & Communication
Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, issues, and policy clarifications.Support managers in addressing employee relations matters while ensuring consistency with company policies and compliance with employment laws.Foster a positive workplace culture that promotes teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.Payroll & Benefits Administration
Partner with payroll provider (Justworks) to ensure timely and accurate biweekly payroll processing.Maintain employee records, compensation changes, and PTO tracking.Manage all aspects of benefits planning, including vendor coordination, plan renewals, employee communications, and open enrollment.Provide ongoing support to employees regarding benefits eligibility, claims, and plan options.Compliance & Policy Management
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.Update and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.Support EPLI and insurance reporting processes, including coordination with Justworks and outside counsel when necessary.Performance Management & Development
Coordinate performance review cycles and assist with merit increase documentation.Support training initiatives for managers and staff on compliance, communication, and leadership.Maintain organized employee files and HR metrics.Cross-Functional Support
Collaborate closely with the Accounting and Operations teams on workforce planning, budgeting, and compensation alignment.Liaise with legal counsel to ensure timely handling of employment matters and company compliance.Support both Redwood RE Management and its affiliated entities as needed.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).PHR or SHRM-CP certification (not required, but preferred)3–5 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably within property management, real estate, or professional services.Working knowledge of HR laws and best practices (FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEO, etc.).Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (Justworks, ADP, or similar).Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.COMPENSATION + BENEFITS
