Position Profile
The Production Engineer is primarily responsible for the technical management, maintenance and development of new and existing production lines. This individual supports the objectives of Marotta Controls, Inc. relative to manufacturing and operational goals. In this role the Production Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences, test equipment, and processes that continually ensure that equipment capacity will meet customer demand. The Production Engineer will also implement process improvements based on demonstrated improved yield results and participate in defect reduction activities and lean initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
- 5+ years\' experience in design and manufacturing of electric motors
- 2+ years of related experience in a production / operations environment
- Working knowledge of electric motors and their components, the processes and techniques for manufacturing, and the equipment and methods for testing
- Excellent verbal / written communication skills for interactions with all levels of personnel and outside agents
- Highly computer literate, with MS Office / PC expertise, and experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
- Must be a US Citizen
Key Responsibilities
Create new tooling / fixturing and processes / procedures for the introduction of new motors and / or the improvement of existing motorsDevelop and maintain testing policies, procedures, and performance metrics to achieve manufacturing objectivesUnderstand and implement machining, part creation / fabrication and measurement techniques using GD&T best practicesInvestigate, assess and resolve production issuesImplement improvements to current operations to improve efficiencyCommunicate with suppliers to procure tooling, fixtures, and equipmentCreate assemble and test procedures for production hardwareAnalyze layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization to maximize efficiencySupport Operations in meeting design requirements by utilizing manufacturing tools and equipmentDesign detailed assembly procedures and toolingGenerate procedures from industry and aerospace specificationsDesign test fixturesCommunicate designs and intent with team members and suppliersApply Lean Manufacturing principles to tool / fixture design, material selection, facility layout, cost estimates, DFM concepts, GT&D practices, and shop documentationSecure external resources to maintain equipment operationEnsure practices support safety and standardizationCreate, maintain and refine manufacturing documentation (Operation Sheets, Routers, Setup / Tooling sheets, etc.)Generate, optimize, validate and maintain CNC programs using CAD / CAM toolsDesign efficient / safe tools and fixtures for motor manufacturing and operationsGenerate accurate estimates (setup, cycle time, material, etc.)Monitor performance metrics and communicate status to managementCommunicate issues promptly to internal / external stakeholdersContribute to a positive, cooperative, safe work environmentParticipate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiativesAdditional Duties / Responsibilities

Manufacturing / machine shop environment with typical exposures such as fluids, fumes, airborne particles, moving parts, noise and vibrationCombination of professional office and manufacturing environments; standard office equipment and required PPEMay require 5-20% travelThis is a full-time position with schedule : 4 days x 9 hours (Mon-Thu) + 4 hours on Friday; overtime / weekend work as neededPhysical Requirements

Pay Range : $87,750 - $115,000 per year
Location : Chaska, MN office (On-Site Mon-Fri)
