The Manufacturing Engineer 2 is responsible for the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes and workflows. This role is focused on managing technical challenges, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, process reliability, and operational efficiency.

As an Manufacturing Engineer 2 , you will :
Develop, modify, maintain, and standardize accurate multi-level Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) structures within the ERP system to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability for the Circular Products Business UnitManage and oversee all change control processes to maintain part routing accuracy and ensure seamless production planningCreate, update, and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructionsEnsure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements in all documentation and processesOptimize efficiency by evaluating and improving equipment layouts, workflow processes, assembly methods, and workforce utilization within the assigned areaLead the design, testing, and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and equipment to enhance production capabilitiesProvide support for new equipment installations, validations, and upgrades to meet production demandsDetermine the parts, equipment, and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications through moderate to advanced technical abilitiesDiagnose and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure seamless operations through proactive maintenance strategiesLead long-term initiatives such as capital implementation projects aligned with business goalsRespond to production problems and escalations where repeat failures or large business impacts are occurringPerforms moderate to advanced engineering calculationsOversee resources, timelines, and technical requirements for medium sized projects of moderate scope, ensuring strategic objectives are met while driving continuous improvementLead and actively contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing costs, improving quality, and enhancing production efficiency and safetyServe as a liaison between production and quality teams; addressing issues and providing technical support to operators, technicians and supervisors to ensure smooth operationsTrain and mentor operators and personnel on the use of new equipment, processes, and best practices to ensure a skilled and informed workforceAct as a resource for less experienced team members and assist in developing solutions for moderately complex challengesRole Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 3+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and 7+ years of experience in a manufacturingProficient knowledge and experience with steel manufacturing processesKnows and applies moderate to advanced DMAIC problem solving methodology and Lean conceptsKnows and applies tools to perform Root Cause Corrective Action analysisIntermediate statistical analysis skillsIntermediate project management skills; capable of leading medium scale projectsProficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), shop floor control, production planning, and inventory planning applicationsProficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawingsRead and interpret customer specifications and industry standardsUnderstand required internal manufacturing paperworkAbility to solve practical problems and make decisions within a set of guidelinesEffective verbal and written communication skillsWork with others as part of a high-performance teamAdapt to changing work prioritiesAccept and apply on the job training to advance skill levelRemain positive in challenging work environmentsWhy Millerbernd and Who We Are
