Job Title : Tooling Engineer

Description :
The Tooling Engineer position will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to improve the die-making process and to improve bolster / retainer quality in and around automation systems and tooling.
Responsibilities :
- Create 3D or 2D drawings from data measured by newly purchased 3D scanning equipment
- Skills for measuring product roughness and die dimensions using the newly introduced 3D scanner (training will be provided)
- Comparing the measured 3D scan with the original model
- Measuring / Scanning with Hexagon CMM arm.
- Parts management and inventory control
- Experience with NX or Catia CAD software.
- Proactively addresses and corrects all unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- Performs work requiring advanced knowledge of forging and die engineering.
- Responsible for supporting CAD / CAM operations and programming.
- Lead the creation of die CAD developments and implementations.
- Responsible for supporting equipment and tooling activities associated with the forging process.
- Responsible for Bolster / Retainer management and improvement (cost, part life, quality).
- Responsible for improving and maintaining die tool path, especially focusing on DK65M+Nitride die cost and part life improvement.
- Responsible for improving tool life and cost (T / F arm, T / F fingers, bolster related parts, etc.)
- Analyzes, interprets, and makes deductions from varying facts or circumstance based on the forging and die process.
- Discusses with die shop, forge engineer, maintenance, and quality department for engineering improvements.
- Studies countermeasures for not only quality but also cost mainly by die and bolster / retainer machining process improvement.
- May require visits to die and bolster / retainer related vendors with forge engineer for improve quality and cost.
- Observes machining condition of die and bolster / retainer and capable of discussing how to improve machining.
- Develop and maintain work instruction documentation.
- Develop and maintain process documentation (control plans, PFMEA, Tooling Sheets, etc.).
- Review, analyze, design, and implement revisions to improve existing processes for increased efficiency (die making hours, tool life, bolster / retainer life, etc.).
- Review forge line feedback and develop permanent corrective actions to improve quality and life of die and bolster / retainer.
- Die Engineer will receive calls or messages from floor operations at night or on holidays.
- May need to work nights or long shifts due to troubles and trials.
- Proactively addresses and corrects all unsafe behaviours and conditions.
Qualifications include :
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or related program.Proficiency in computer utilization, including the use of CAD / CAM software (NX, Catia, Work NC and FFCAM).5+ years of forge, manufacturing, or die engineer is required.Experience in a forging environment is required.Hands on experience in tool and die methods is required.Ability to manage projects until completion with minimum supervision.Strong decision-making and communication skills required.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
