Position Status : Direct
Work Hours : 7 : 00AM - 3 : 30PM
SUMMARY
Responsible for performing various machining operations on overhaul component parts in accordance with WGPW established methods and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes but is not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities.
- Machine parts to specifications using CNC vertical turret lathe and or CNC lathe.
- Develop CNC machining programs including tool selection and calculation of appropriate speed and feeds using Fryer Siemens controls.
- Create an assortment of CNC tools to perform basic and complex machining operations.
- Set up and operate CNC machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
- Use and interpret appropriate technical data, including but not limited to travelers, blueprints and other technical data as provided.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, indicators, and swing gages.
- Measure, examine, and test completed components in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measurement equipment.
- Communicate with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Handling and Moving Objects Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
- Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
- Follow safety rules and guidelines.
- Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read and interpret appropriate technical data, including but not limited to travelers, blueprints and other technical data as provided.Must have good mechanical skills, a high level of manual dexterity including hand-eye coordination and the ability to accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators. Must be able to effectively and safely use manufacturer’s special tooling and lift and turn equipment.EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
3+ years of previous experience in the operation of CNC machines and tools, including their designs and uses.Experience in the overhaul and repair of aviation components preferred.PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, and controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, solvents, and oils.
