Full-time Paralegal (Workers Compensation)Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Paralegal specializing in Workers Compensation to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Workers Compensation, Personal Injury Law, and general paralegal duties. This role requires a professional with 5+ years of relevant work experience who can effectively manage complex cases, support attorneys, and provide exceptional service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management : Oversee and manage a high volume of workers compensation cases from inception to resolution. This includes organizing case files, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Client Communication : Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on case status, explaining legal procedures, and addressing their concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Document Preparation : Draft and prepare various legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, medical summaries, and settlement agreements.
- Investigation and Research : Conduct thorough investigations into workers compensation claims, including gathering and analyzing medical records, employment records, and other relevant documentation. Perform legal research to support case strategies.
- Litigation Support : Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, mediations, and trials. This may include organizing exhibits, preparing witness files, and creating trial notebooks.
- Medical Record Management : Review and summarize medical records, identify key information relevant to cases, and maintain organized medical chronologies.
- Insurance Liaison : Communicate effectively with insurance companies, claims adjusters, and other parties involved in workers compensation cases.
- Scheduling and Calendar Management : Coordinate and schedule depositions, medical examinations, hearings, and other case-related appointments. Maintain attorney calendars and ensure all deadlines are tracked and met.
- Settlement Negotiations : Assist in preparing settlement demands and participate in settlement negotiations under attorney supervision.
- Compliance : Ensure all case activities comply with state and federal workers compensation laws, as well as firm policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
Associates / Bachelor 's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal certification preferred.5+ years of experience as a paralegal, with a strong focus on workers compensation and personal injury law.In-depth knowledge of workers compensation laws, procedures, and best practices.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.Strong ethical standards and commitment to client confidentiality.
