Student Library Assistant - Processing
Job Overview
The Library Assistant assists with a variety of acquisitions, cataloging, and processing related tasks in the Nicholas Suite. These may include new book copy cataloging and processing, relabeling, mending, withdrawals, and resolving cataloging issues. This position pays $15 / hour.
Duties and Responsibilities
Physical processing of books and other items (applying stamps, call number labels, etc.)
Unpacking boxes of books and organizing them
Mending of damaged books
Copy cataloging and resolving cataloging issues
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to learn Library of Congress, Dewey and other classification systems
Ability to learn new computer systems
Demonstrated reliability and trustworthiness
Attention to detail
Qualifications
Current Wheaton College undergraduate or graduate student
Good critical thinking skills
Good communication skills (written and verbal)
