Our Post Judgment department is currently seeking a Legal Assistant. This department handles delinquent accounts that have gone through the litigation process and received a court judgment. The Legal Assistant will primarily be responsible for preparing judgment payoffs and releases, as well as assisting with special projects assigned by the department manager.
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively. The ideal applicant should be a self-starter, eager to learn, and capable of completing tasks with minimal supervision after training. This is a great opportunity for both experienced legal assistants and entry-level candidates seeking to gain valuable experience in the legal field.
- Prepare, proofread, and forward various Judgment Payoffs., e.g. standard payoffs, deficiency payoffs, strike-off payoffs, private resale payoffs & bankruptcy payoffs, etc.
- Prepare various releases of judgment, e.g. standard, Partial, sold or Resale, clouding title on homesteaded, etc.
- Handle all phone calls and e-mails related to payoff and release. Also, assist in answering the Post Judgment mail line.
- Research and Prepare a Release of Judgment from the JP list (twice a year).
- Prepare payment plans requested by taxpayers.
- Process all the copies of checks resulting from the payoff and prepare the release.
- Help walk-ins customer when needed.
- Review files for sale (based on the availability of time).
- Any other duties assigned by the manager or attorneys that may involve responsibilities such as customer service, client reporting, or tasks related to departmental administrative duties
