Overview
Job Overview : Defines productive or non-productive processes and concepts for the industrialization and manufacturing of automobiles according to specified standards in quality, productivity, ergonomics, safety, and economy for several line segments within defined shops such as Body, Paint or Assembly Shop. Drive own initiatives to optimize processes, ensure compliance with standards, and achieve continuous improvement in all aspects of production. Leads multidisciplinary teams in problem solving to improve quality or efficiency of the operations.
Responsibilities
- Plan sequences of operations / working cycles for subsystems.
- Perform pre-planning, primary and detailed planning for sequences of operations, working cycles, layouts, processes, material flow, concepts, production equipment and lead times in accordance with quality, ergonomic and operational targets for subsystems (e.g., complete door preassembly, axle montage, production / tool concept design for various gearing tools, universal tools for case machining, interlinked BiW sections using various technologies, basic engine assembly, in conjunction with other involved parties).
- Change and acquire new production equipment on the basis of rationalization measures.
- Prepare target / actual comparisons of required capacities or product variants, present alternatives and compile, reconcile and monitor asset investment / capital expenditure costs, overheads and production times.
- Check technical product documentation and criteria for optimal implementation; request amendment and adjustment as required.
- Coordinate suppliers and specialist departments in the context of packages of measures for the relevant area of responsibility as applicable.
- Plan simple production equipment : create capacity and utilization plans for simple production equipment (e.g. Bemis, Tools, simple Manipulators); determine nature and quantity of production equipment required; estimate costs and develop proposals for internal / external procurement; arrange procurement as appropriate.
- Prepare requirements and obtain and evaluate offers for subsystems : develop and reconcile requirements (e.g. technical and other specifications) for subsystems and services; evaluate contractors on the basis of technical considerations and propose for selection; obtain offers and evaluate in terms of technical implementation, value for money, follow-up costs and supply availability; clarify details with regard to technology, construction and delivery dates; provide support to Procurement on technical issues relating to negotiations.
- Support and monitor the setup, approval and acceptance of subsystems : coordinate and monitor the setup, approval, acceptance and initial utilization of subsystems; control the correct implementation in terms of technical requirements and scheduling; demonstrate process capability; create acceptance reports, jointly define and schedule remediation measures for faults and track their implementation; perform follow-up approval and acceptance as required; arrange additional changes and improvements and adjust documentation accordingly.
- Optimize and document technical processes for subsystems : determine production workflows; describe working cycles, sequences of operations, layouts, material flows, production equipment and tool concepts and determine optimal batch sizes for subsystems; calculate and determine standard times (MTM / c-values); document production workflows, including machine setting data; implement provisions on test procedures; submit testing and measurement orders; develop, introduce and monitor rationalization measures, reductions to production times and procedural improvements; evaluate results; reconcile, determine and represent all planning parameters with the specialist departments; understand and apply existing planning standards, guidelines and auditable documentation; participate in development of planning standards / tools, e.g. standard technical specifications, procedural instructions for planning processes, checklists, process descriptions (e.g. documentation in PP Book), etc.
- Participate in projects : contribute knowledge / experience from own area of responsibility to projects and working groups; represent results and requirements of own area; implement process steps / packages of measures as required.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
- Financial Responsibilities : Oversee budget tracking, cost monitoring and reporting for capex and non-capex investments from own area of responsibility, ensuring cost efficiency and strategic resource allocation for line interventions in collaboration with management.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Maintenance Engineering or similar fieldMinimum 3-5 years of relevant automotive manufacturing experienceKnowledge and Skills
Proficiency in LEAN Manufacturing and ISO 9001 quality standards.Ability to plan, prioritize and control multiple production areas under responsibility (e.g., Body Shop, Paint Shop, Assembly Shop, Battery).EE topics : understanding of NISP Programming, ability to support EE failure analysis, software coding.Coordination and communication skills to manage activities under the line of responsibility and liaising with stakeholders.Analytical skills and data-driven decision making and troubleshooting.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Ability to report main KPIs such as line utilization and process / time study capability.Certifications : MTM Blue Card is a plus.Languages : Spanish and / or German are a plus.
