Overview
Leads field underwriting & sales operations for designated geographic region. Supervises multiple branch offices within a designated geographic territory and field sales teams. Specific supervisory responsibilities include agency management, sales, underwriting & P&L ownership for all small commercial lines products.
Responsibilities
Provides direct supervision & development of regional underwriting VPs & managers to profitability grow each state in alignment with our national and local appetite and strategy.
Provides direct supervision & development of field sales leadership team to drive mutually beneficial partnerships with appointed agent and broker partners.
- Directs and approves the underwriting activities for branch offices; exercises underwriting approval in excess of the Vice Presidents' authority level, if necessary.
- Monitors branch underwriting practices, programs, and documentation.
- Reviews and monitors the branch loss ratios as determined by Company's financial reports.
- Works with the Senior Vice President of Underwriting in monitoring the proper use of Company rates, rules and underwriting policies.
- Works with the Director of Underwriting Compliance and the Chief Underwriting Officer in prioritizing branch office audits.
- Actively markets AmTrust and its expanding products & programs throughout assigned territory and at designated industry functions.
- Acts as the executive face of AmTrust in assigned region, partnering with external agents / brokers and industry associations to drive our strategy & increase marketplace visibility
- Oversees agency and broker management process and activities to ensure AmTrust is a top carrier across all appointed partners.
- Conducts annual agent reviews with Vice Presidents in regard to commissions, production and losses, and makes recommendations to the Executive Vice President / Chief Underwriting Officer, as appropriate.
- Assists managers in recruiting, training and staff development as coordinated with Executive Vice President / Chief Underwriting Officer and Human Resources Administrator.
- Reports & presents monthly operations & financial updates to executive leadership team
- Prepares Annual Regional Business Plan, including :
Marketing - Develops and approves action plans for assigned territory, which promote growth of Company's product lines in the branch and maintain profitable operations
Expense Control - Develops branch / regional expense management programs, including seminars, travel, convention attendance, and staffing in assigned territoryUnderwriting - Participates in the development and implementation of branch and regional underwriting profitability goals in conjunction with the Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer.Researches new business opportunities in concert with appropriate home office or branch units.Attends industry functions within region consistent with business development efforts and / or strategies.Other marketing, underwriting, or supervisory duties / responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications
