Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to develop and deploy manufacturing equipment within our cutting-edge battery factories. Battery development is at the heart of our company and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles - battery architecture innovation, battery reliability, and battery cost. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.
What You'll Do
Establish equipment requirements and develop design concepts
Develop new manufacturing equipment for a high-volume production environment
Develop specifications and manage RFQ process for new manufacturing equipment
Lead and manage project scope from concept through production launch
Oversee detailed design of new manufacturing equipment
Develop equipment validation plans
Coordinate factory readiness and equipment installation
Function as lead Manufacturing Engineer or Project Manager on new automated manufacturing equipment
Transitioned products from low-volume prototypes to large-scale production
Ability and willingness to travel abroad up to 50%
What You'll Bring
3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
Mechanical design and layout development experience in CAD
Understanding of tolerancing and GD&T
Understanding of manufacturing equipment safety systems
Multiple new equipment installations and product launches
Large manufacturing line implementations
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, similar degree, or equivalent experience
