Corporate Accountant
The Corporate Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the company's financial records, accurate and timely filing of assigned and required reporting, reconciling the general ledger accounts, recording all associated entries, and perform account and variance analysis.
Responsibilities include :
- Compile and prepare various reports required by external agencies with 100% accuracy and ensure that they are submitted on a timely basis. Prepare all reports and research requested by internal customers. Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to maintain accurate general ledger records. Support the preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules.
- In collaboration with the F&A team, document the primary processes used in the position that are instrumental in driving the outcomes for the position. Manage month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and reporting is accurate. Perform account reconciliations, variance analyses, and ensure resolution of reconciling items. Review and analyze expense allocations, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
- In collaboration with the Process Improvement Manager, the F&A team and other client groups, develop the skills necessary to identify process improvement opportunities and to be able to improve processes on your own. Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Treasury, and FP&A) to ensure accurate financial reporting. Maintain documentation of accounting procedures.
- Use the PDS to identify, manager and improve the skills that are needed to improve performance.
- Working with the Process Improvement Manager, the Lead Accountant, the F&A team, and other client groups, identify those processes in the position that rely on paper, identify alternatives to the existing processes and recommend changes to those processes.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies. Support external audits by providing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
