Who we are looking for
We are seeking a Plant Manager for our Houston, TX location. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role will direct and manage plant operations for production, maintenance, quality and shipping / receiving. The position coordinates plant activities through planning with departmental managers to achieve total manufacturing objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in business, engineering or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of plant / general management experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system–based company is required.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment and occasionally in the plant floor environment. Employees may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The plant environment can be loud. Work involves lifting materials and products up to 50 pounds. The manufacturing plant is not climate controlled. PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection, hi-visibility clothing, and steel-toed boots as required.
Timeline
Within 3 months — Complete Atkore immersion including participating in a Kaizen event; gain a solid understanding of current activities related to workforce development and maintenance; be embedded in the business to participate in financial and operational reviews.
Within 6 months — Understand and drive changes to strategy to correct unfavorable trends in productivity and throughput; lead tactical and strategic initiatives (e.g., weekly SQDC reviews, monthly forecasting, deep dives, strategy deployment); recommend staffing changes to improve performance.
Within 12 months — Be completely accountable for all results from material receiving to finished goods shipping; complete annual budgeting activities and headcount changes; own long-term strategy for capital expenditures and volume growth.
Compensation and Benefits
As of the posting date, a good faith estimate of current pay for this position is $128,080 - $176,110. Placement depends on competencies, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel, and business needs. Other compensation may include overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives. Benefits available include :
