Responsibilities
- Managing the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work.
- Compiling, analyzing, and interpreting occupational illness and accident statistical data at the project level.
- Recommending process and product safety features to reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
- Routinely inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct hazards and ensure safety regulation compliance.
- Monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coaching employees on correct behaviors when observed.
- Developing environmental health and safety training materials (manuals, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, etc.).
- Developing a paperwork management system to track training records for all safety training initiatives.
- Interpreting safety regulations for the project.
- Coordinating and presenting safety training to support client requirements, including new hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout / tagout, and related topics.
- Interfacing with OSHA (federal or provincial) officials / inspectors when site visits occur.
Qualifications
Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field is preferred.Minimum of 10 years (or 5 years on similar projects) of experience on similar projects.30-hour OSHA construction training, or equivalent, within the last 5 years.Average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training per year for the past 5 years.Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity.Strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; comfortable with computer-based reporting and documentation.Detail-oriented with a keen eye for discrepancies; strong work ethic; able to work independently and in teams.Able to interact professionally with all levels of management; capable of managing a diversified workload and challenging situations.CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred (within the last two years).Other Requirements
