Overview
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Customs Entry Writer. The role involves day-to-day tasks related to Customs clearance procedures, documentation preparation, and regulatory compliance to ensure smooth movement of shipments through the border.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process Customs Entry documentation in full compliance with applicable U.S. Customs laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Ensure timely payment of all duties, taxes, and applicable fees associated with Customs-related transactions.
- Accurately calculate duties, tariffs, and government-imposed charges using proper commodity classification and declared value.
- Classify goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) or applicable tariff coding systems.
- Communicate with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) to facilitate lawful and efficient cargo clearance.
- Review and verify all entry documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.
- Coordinate timely cargo release and delivery by maintaining communication with clients, freight forwarders, carriers, exam sites, terminals, and logistics vendors.
- Monitor billing activities to ensure prompt and accurate invoices related to Customs Entry services.
- Stay up to date on evolving regulations impacting international trade and Customs compliance.
- Provide clients with guidance on customs regulations, import restrictions, and relevant trade developments.
Requirements
Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations or prior experience in freight forwarding is preferred but not required.Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal / written communication.High attention to detail with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.Qualifications
