We are looking for a dedicated and meticulous Payroll Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will oversee critical payroll functions for a workforce operating across multiple states, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. Responsibilities :
- Accurately input payroll data for employees, ensuring all information is precise and up-to-date.
- Process electronic direct deposits and prepare printed checks for applicable employees.
- Administer payroll for union and non-union employees, adhering to specific agreements and regulations.
- Manage payroll for salaried, hourly, and commissioned employees, including quarterly commission processing.
- Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll laws and regulations across three states.
- Handle payroll tax filings and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and security of employee payroll data.
- Utilize downtime to proactively assist with additional tasks or projects as needed.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient payroll operations.
- Stay current on payroll-related policies, laws, and best practices to improve processes.
- Proficiency in Viewpoint Vista payroll software and a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel.
- Previous experience managing payroll, including multi-state and union payroll.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in all payroll processes.
- Ability to follow established procedures while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
- Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and filing requirements.
- Problem-solving skills and initiative to identify and address additional tasks during slower periods.
- Experience processing payroll for medium-sized employee groups (80-100 employees).
- Familiarity with bi-weekly payroll cycles and reconciliation processes.
