Adult Education Instructor – Manufacturing Career Pathway Credential Program
LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT : By Semester. Grant funded and subject to sufficient enrollment.
LOCATION : Forest View Educational Center, Wheeling High School
General Responsibilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of and is experienced in the career pathway credential or certificate program.
- Utilizes designated curriculum – such as ICCB Adult Ed. Division's statewide Adult Education Bridge Curriculum for Manufacturing or Healthcare, materials and other appropriate supplementary materials in instruction such as components of the curriculum from "Integrating Career Awareness into the ABE & ESOL Classroom (Carol Bower – SABES), employing a contextualized approach and adjusting specific curriculum goals as individual learner needs arise.
- Employs an interactive, participatory teaching approach and a variety of teaching techniques while demonstrating effective classroom management.
- Monitors learner progress towards their stated goals, provides instruction to help learners while earning an Industry Recognized Credential, and makes learners aware of their individual progress.
- Demonstrates understanding of the responsibilities of the instructor in the data collection process, including teacher absence policy, & correctly fulfills this role within the time frame requested.
- Maintains accurate daily attendance records.
- Reports to and consults with the Transitions Coordinator regarding the progress of the students.
- Administers end-of-session student evaluations and post-test.
- Promotes learners' participation in the Transitions program to earn Industry Recognized Credentials.
- Works with the AEFL support teacher to build skills that students need to complete the Industry Recognized Credential.
- Prepares an end-of-session report, which includes a progress report reflecting outcomes achieved, samples of materials customized to the curriculum objectives, and student evaluations.
- Provides documentation of attendance at a minimum of twelve hours of professional development per year, including two local staff development meetings, Teacher Training Seminars, and submits an updated resume annually.
- Expected to deliver instruction on-site and in person, but also willing and capable of delivery instruction remotely as needed.
Position Expectations
Accurately fulfills the requirements of the data collection process within the requested time frame;Reviews and analyzes the DAIS-I Instructor Outcomes Report – Individual each semester;Attends and documents an annual minimum of twelve hours of professional development relevant to ESL levels currently taught, including two program-hosted ESL professional development meetings (Fall and Spring); and submits an updated resume annually;Keeps current with program information and updates by reading all ESL teacher memos and email communications;Must complete new employee GCN training and updates annually as required according to deadlinesMust demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills in dealing with staff, students, parents, outside officials / agencies, and the general public.Must project a positive image of the district as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude.Performs other tasks assigned by supervisorPreferred Qualifications
ICCB Standards Proficient InstructorCertification Industry backgroundThree or more years of experience in teaching adult ESL, ABE, GED or Industry ClassMiniumum Qualifications
Meet ICCB Preferred Instructor criteriaBA / BS in Education or appropriate credential / certification programMust complete the ICCB "Orientation to Adult Education for Instructors" upon hiringMust clear a fingerprint background check through District 214Able to instruct a class for a minimum of 3 hoursAble to perform frequent bending, stooping, and reaching activitiesMust have physical ability to lift / move supplies, materials and office equipment up to 10 lbs.APPLICATION PROCEDURE : Complete an online application and provide the following information :
