At Chronos Imaging in Aurora, IL, we build CT tubes that help clinicians see clearly and act quickly. As a Medical Device CNC Machining Specialist, you'll transform engineered designs into precision components that meet demanding medical standards. Your craftsmanship and problem-solving will directly support the reliability of life-saving imaging equipment.

A Day in the Life

You start by reviewing blueprints and engineering notes, mapping out the order of operations. With a plan in hand, you set up a mill or lathe, secure tooling and fixtures, and verify offsets. Throughout the run, you watch feeds and speeds, make thoughtful adjustments, and inspect each part to tight tolerances. If something goes off-nominal, you dig in—troubleshoot, program, refine. By day's end, your machines are serviced, your documentation is crisp, and your parts meet spec.

What You'll Tackle

• Work within our Quality Management System and Environmental, Health & Safety standards, ensuring strong documentation, GMP adherence, and safe practices.
• Determine dimensions and tolerances using precise tools like micrometers and vernier calipers.
• Produce parts to specification on lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.
• Set up, adjust, and operate both standard and specialized machine tools for accurate machining operations.
• Align and secure fixtures, tooling, attachments, and materials before cutting.
• Inspect finished units for defects and conformance with precision instruments (e.g., micrometers).
• Monitor and optimize machine feed and speed during operations.
• Keep machine tools in excellent working order and perform routine care.
• Study samples, prints, drawings, and engineering data to define the best sequence of operations.
• Run equipment to confirm operational efficiency and performance.
• Ensure workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled.
• Program CNC equipment and related electronic controls (including G-code) as needed.
• Diagnose machine tool issues and determine when adjustments or repairs are required.
• Collaborate with engineering, supervisors, and manufacturing teams to share technical insights.
• Lay out, measure, and mark stock to indicate cut locations.
• Fit and assemble parts to build or repair machine tools.
• Contribute to additional tasks and projects as assigned.
