Position : SR. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, POWER SYSTEMS (STARSHIP)
The Stage 0 electrical engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support for the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of all Starship Launch Pad electrical systems in Cape Canaveral, FL. The scope includes all electrical infrastructure needed to launch, catch, and generate propellant for the Starship launch vehicle, as well as supporting daily operations on the pads.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects from inception to completion, including design reviews, equipment procurement, construction coordination, and implementation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to gather, understand, and challenge requirements, providing detailed electrical designs and specifications for power equipment and systems.
- Support the design, operation, and troubleshooting of all Starship Stage 0 electrical components and systems.
- Coordinate electrical installation and maintenance activities with electricians and utility personnel.
- Ensure all electrical designs and installations comply with applicable codes and regulations.
- Verify equipment interfaces with other mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring compatibility with facility power budgets.
- Conduct code reviews and analyses using NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, AFSPCMAN 91-710 Vol 5 & 6, and IBC standards.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.7+ years of professional experience working with power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS systems, and generators.Preferred Skills and Experience
10+ years of relevant experience in power systems, switchgear, UPS, and generators.Proficiency in reading and understanding power and control schematics.Experience with technical manuals for equipment operation and maintenance.Experience with VFDs and industrial pumps.Familiarity with MODBUS and Profinet communication protocols.Experience with medium voltage distribution and control panel design.Knowledge of power coordination and arc flash safety.Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with high self-motivation.Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.Additional Requirements
Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.Ability to pass an Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral.Flexibility to work in extreme outdoor environments (heat, cold, wind, rain).Willingness to travel (~10%) to other Starship Launch and Test sites.J-18808-Ljbffr
