Location : Lake Villa, IL 60046

Pay Rate : $40 / hr to $50 / hr

Description :

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve middle and high school students in a therapeutic day school setting for the upcoming 20252026 school year. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a direct impact in a structured, supportive environment designed for students with social-emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges.

Position Summary :

The Special Education Teacher will deliver individualized instruction, support emotional and behavioral growth, and collaborate with a team of professionals to foster academic and personal success for students in a therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Provide instruction aligned with IEP goals in small group and 1 : 1 settings

Collaborate with school social workers, therapists, and support staff

Implement behavior support plans and therapeutic strategies

Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with IEP requirements

Foster a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

Qualifications :

Valid Special Education teaching license (state-specific certification required)

Experience working in therapeutic, self-contained, or alternative settings preferred

Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills

Compassionate, patient, and trauma-informed approach to teaching

Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
