Description
The Assistant Unit Director serves as an expert clinical leader and role model for clinical best practices in the perioperative environment, supports unit and organizational goals, and maintains the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and physical resources to support exceptional, safe, and efficient patient care. In support of UCLA Health nursing leadership and professional practice, the Assistant Unit Director participates in the active daily management of the operating room including coaching, mentoring, assessing and responding to the needs of the unit, assessing staff observance of patient safety goals, and providing clinical support. The Assistant Unit Director is responsible for onboarding and orienting new hires, tracking and maintaining staff competency, assessing and addressing staff learning needs, evaluating staff performance, and developing and implementing unit policies and procedures. The Assistant Unit Director will participate in and lead process, practice, and quality improvement initiatives and should have experience in project managment and implementing evidence-based practice.
