About the Role
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This position manages day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger entries, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial statement preparation. The Staff Accountant plays a key role in month-end and year-end closing processes, cost accounting, and audit support. Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of GAAP, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced business environment.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to support effective financial management and reporting
- Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to strengthen financial decision-making
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss reports
- Manage general ledger activities including journal entries and account categorization
- Perform cost accounting tasks and assist with financial analysis across departments
- Reconcile bank accounts and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy of transactions
- Support accounts receivable collections and manage accounts payable including invoice verification and processing
- Maintain the fixed asset register and perform accurate depreciation calculations
- Provide documentation and account details during external audits
- Collaborate with technology providers to improve accounting systems and software functionality
- Assist with compliance reporting to banking institutions and regulatory agencies
- Support payroll processing as a backup, including report preparation
- Allocate expenses according to company procedures and maintain detailed records
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes including preparation of supporting schedules
- Stay updated on current accounting practices, procedures, and GAAP requirements
- Complete additional tasks as needed to support the finance team
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Accounting or FinanceMinimum of three years of experience in accounting or finance rolesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting softwareStrong understanding of financial and cost accounting principlesKnowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance requirementsExcellent organizational skills with strong attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skillsDesired Qualifications :
