Special Education Teacher (SPED) Job Duties
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each students needs
Provide specialized instruction to support students with disabilities in achieving academic and functional goals
Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and related service providers
Track and document student progress toward IEP objectives
Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning styles
Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education guidelines
Federal and State Requirements
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required
Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and other applicable education laws
Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by Illinois school districts
