Our ideal candidate is eager to learn, willing to experiment, and excited to empower both teammates and customers to accelerate social progress and propel innovation. The Instrumentl team is fully distributed (though if you'd like to work from our Oakland office, we would love to see you there). For this position, we are looking for someone who has significant overlap with Pacific Time Zone working hours.
Base pay range
$120,000.00 / yr - $160,000.00 / yr

What You'll Do
- Design, build, and deploy experiments and features, using Ruby on Rails to enhance user experiences and drive key growth metrics.
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Design, and Data teams to ensure our product remains best-in-class.
- Maintain and improve our growth experimentation platform, ensuring robust and reliable experiment tracking and analysis.
- Implement and analyze A / B tests to validate hypotheses and inform product decisions.
- Own problems end-to-end, managing complexity and engaging with stakeholders to develop short- and long-term solutions.
- Apply a product-focused mindset, balancing speed, quality, and user experience in all deliverables.
- Identify opportunities where automation and AI can drive efficiency, scalability, and speed.
- Uphold Instrumentl's high standards for product quality and mentor newer team members.
What We're Looking For
3+ years of software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on Ruby on Rails development. Startup experience is a plus.Front-end familiarity (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and integration with Rails applications; open to learning new tools.Customer-focused : delivering exceptional user experiences and helping users realize value.AI-native mindset : interest in automation and AI-powered tools to speed up workflows.Process optimizer : ability to streamline systems and save time, including scripting or integrating APIs.Collaborative : thrives in cross-functional teams with product, design, marketing, and data analysts.Experimentally minded : comfortable with rapid iteration, feature flagging, and A / B testing across funnel stages.Highly analytical : data-first problem solving with interpretation of experiment results and product telemetry.Hungry, results-driven, and passionate about Instrumentl's mission.Bonus Points
Growth-focused experience or growth engineering roles.Proficiency with analytics tools (Amplitude, Segment, Mixpanel) and SQL.Familiarity with PLG concepts and onboarding / activation strategies.Experience with email marketing, SEO, or other acquisition channels.Knowledge of Tailwind and / or Hotwire stack.Experience with LLM-powered features for onboarding, education, or self-service flows.Compensation And Benefits
Salary ranges are based on market data and role level. Salary is part of total compensation, which also includes equity, perks, and benefits.
For US-based candidates, target salary is $120,000 - $160,000 / year + equity.
