Senior Accountant
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant position provides support to the accounting related to AgriBank, SunStream, Foundations and Associations. Support includes preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations, including resolving issues and other general accounting duties. This position performs the more complex duties relative to AgriBank's accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and data entry processing. The position assists the Manager, Accounting in periodic ICFR documentation and control testing to ensure accuracy of financial statements. As a key member of the Accounting team, you will be part of AgriBank's mission to support the people who feed the world.
Job Functions
Accounting & Planning Preparation
Accounting Preparation :
- Prepares and posts journal entries with supporting documentation
- Ensures compliance with GAAP, FCA and internal accounting standards
- Verifies, determines codes and keys data for invoices
- Performs various accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets duties
- Reconciles clients cash clearing accounts ADBs and ensure remains within threshold
- Maintains Board of Directors master file, including payments, reconciliation of activity and is responsible for reportable income tax documents
Accounting Support :
Assists team members on Bank balancing system and cash related processesResearches and escalates issues to achieve resolutionPrepares journal entries as neededProcesses accounts payable, receivable, fixed assets and enters data as neededEnsures compliance with GAAP, FCA and internal accounting controls and policiesAccount Reconciliation :
Monitors and reconciles assigned accounts on daily, weekly and / or monthly basisIdentifies, researches, and resolves reconciling items, escalating items to achieve resolutionContacts clients or other Bank departments to gather information to resolve issuesPrepares and submits journal entries to correct items discovered in reconciling dutiesProvides guidance to team members on cash account reconciliationResolves issues with Bank and clients, follows up on outstanding issues to ensure timely and accurate resolutionAccounting Entries :
Prepares and calculates significant and / or complex accounting processes for AgriBank and associationsAccounting & Planning Coordination :
Performs and participates in training for team members and processes, as neededReviews and prepares or coordinates fulfillment of requests from Bank departments, auditors and other third partiesAssists with preparation and execution of applicable ICFR controls specifically related to user access reviews, vendor maintenance reviews, and the daily AP reconciliationCoordinates and monitors close cycle processing for AP and FA, including reportable income preparation, asset capitalization, and vendor record reviewsProject and Process Improvements :
Participates in Bank and District-wide project teamsExecutes test plansMaintains and updates documentation on assigned proceduresReviews, recommends or leads process improvements, acting as SME when appropriateImplements improvements and documents new or revised proceduresCommunicate process changes to stakeholdersRelationship Management :
Acts as liaison between Accounting and Board of DirectorsResponds to client requests via District Self Service tool, email or phoneResolves client questions, concerns and communicates resolution in a timely mannerAssists clients in resolutions of accounting issues by completing research and recommending solutionsEducation and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field2-4 years of public accounting experience or 5-7 years of related experienceCPA preferredOr an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the jobKnowledge :
Advanced knowledge of accounting including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assetsAdvanced knowledge of cash operations and general ledger practicesAdvanced knowledge of internal controlsIntermediate knowledge of GAAPIntermediate knowledge of financial reporting standards and processesBasic knowledge of FCA reporting regulations and requirementsBasic knowledge of loan accounting and its systemSkills :
Advanced proficiency in office software Microsoft Office SuiteAdvanced proficiency in general ledger / accounts payable systemsAdvanced proficiency in reconciliation systemsIntermediate proficiency in enterprise performance management (e.g. EPM)Physical Requirements :

The typical base range for this role is between $68,000 - $104,000. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
