Job Title : In-House Employment Attorney

Location : Chicago / Remote / Would like candidate within a 3 hour commute of Chicago

Reports To : General Counsel

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Employment Attorney with approximately 3 years of experience to join our in-house legal team. The ideal candidate will provide legal counsel on a wide range of employment law issues, ensure compliance with labor regulations, and help develop and implement workplace policies to support our growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise HR and management on employment law matters, including wage and hour compliance, employee relations, terminations, leaves of absence, accommodations, and workplace investigations.
• Draft, review, and update employment agreements, separation agreements, handbooks, and workplace policies to ensure legal compliance and alignment with company practices.
• Manage and respond to employee complaints, administrative charges (e.g., EEOC, DOL), and pre-litigation matters.
• Support internal investigations and ensure proper documentation and risk mitigation.
• Monitor changes in federal, state, and local employment laws and provide guidance to internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with HR on training programs for managers and employees regarding workplace compliance, anti-discrimination, and other employment-related topics.
• Assist in managing external counsel on litigation or complex employment matters.
• Provide guidance on employment aspects of business initiatives, mergers, or reorganizations.
