National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one - putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

Group Function Rotations

Graduates in our Finance teams will take part in a 12-month exploration. Your first 6 months will be in the role outlined below and you will return to this role following a broadening 6-month placement designed to provide you with a breadth of experience within your functional area and accelerate your progression at National Grid. This placement will provide you with the opportunity to solve complex problems and focus on growth that will transform the energy sector as we know it.

About the Position

Are you ready to make a real impact? As an Associate Analyst, you'll be a key player in ensuring that National Grid makes sound financial decisions. Your work, whether it's modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, will be crucial for our leaders as they make strategic company decisions. You'll juggle multiple projects and find creative solutions to big-picture challenges through detailed analysis, strategic thinking, and collaboration across teams. This role offers great exposure to what National Grid does as a company, and you'll receive valuable mentorship to help you grow in your career.

This is a hybrid role, with three days a week in the Syracuse, New York office for team collaboration.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll support department leaders and key stakeholders in making informed financial and operational decisions. Here's what you'll be up to :

• Effective Reporting : Provide comprehensive analyses, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, clearly communicating key takeaways to stakeholders.
• Collaborative Modeling : Work with cross-functional teams to develop financial models and evaluate the financial impact of various initiatives, projects, and operational changes.
• Relationship Building : Develop strong, collaborative working relationships across teams, functions, and levels to drive accountability and support decision-making.
• Analytical Problem Solving : Use your analytical skills, judgment, attention to detail, and creativity to effectively solve problems and navigate ambiguity.
• Dynamic Prioritization : Take initiative and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment, balancing the needs of multiple stakeholder groups.
• Ad Hoc Requests : Pivot to address ad hoc requests as they arise, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
• Insightful Presentations : Present monthly results in a style suitable for both finance and non-finance audiences, delivering insights and highlighting priority areas of focus.
• Influence for Performance : Challenge and influence the business to ensure processes and activities are geared for maximum performance.
• Risk Management : Identify risks and opportunities, supporting stakeholders in developing mitigation plans.

Salary Range

Syracuse, NY $61,000 - $69,000 a year

You must reside within our existing footprint, which includes contiguous states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Our hybrid working approach applies to all colleagues who have a role which has the flexibility to be done hybrid across the National Grid group. Operational requirements mean that not all roles are suitable for hybrid working. Managers are responsible for determining whether a role is conducive to hybrid working. A hybrid worker should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to their assigned primary office.
