Overview
Information Systems Technician I - Web Services at the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State. Location : 501 S 2nd St, Springfield, IL. Division : Systems & Programming. Union : IFT. Salary : commensurate with experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Interprets and develops computer programs written in programming languages such as Java; writes scripting code (e.g., JavaScript, JSP); interfaces with HTML, CSS, and XML; uses development environments such as Eclipse and RAD.
- Provides assistance to other Web programmers in the development, design, documentation, and installation of internet applications / software; assists in the implementation and maintenance of Internet Web server systems; conducts training for users on all Internet application software used by the office.
- Assists customers of the Secretary of State's Office with problems related to Internet application software; resolves trouble and assistance calls; develops resolutions to problems from interaction with Internet software, hardware, or other application software; collaborates with other software programmers.
- Maintains and updates documentation related to procedures, logs, analytics, reference manuals, memos, backups, and execution reports.
- Travels as necessary for education, meetings, and site surveys.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to one year of college coursework in computer science OR 1.5 years of technical systems and programming experience OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts, computer systems principles, and IT documentation.Elementary knowledge of hardware / software, languages, and procedures to provide technical and analytical support.Elementary knowledge of accounting and statistical theories, methods, and practices.Working knowledge of data capture devices and data transmission from remote locations to a computer.Working knowledge of computer system documentation principles and techniques.Ability to participate in training programs and to analyze data logically.Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships; follow oral and / or written instructions; and carry out routine operations.Effective written and oral communication skills for engagement with colleagues and internal users / customers.Awareness and adherence to organizational standards for security, privacy, and ethics.Willingness to travel and possession of a valid Illinois driver's license as required by the position.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Application Process
