About the Role
Specialty Capital is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) with a fintech and payments background to help architect the company’s next phase of scale. This is a high-impact leadership role reporting directly to the CEO, with full operational control and the mandate to design the systems, teams, and processes that will support rapid expansion into new products and markets. It’s ideal for a hands-on operator and someone who’s scaled fintech organizations, understands payments and infrastructure, and wants the freedom to move fast and make change without bureaucracy.
Responsibilities
- Scale Operations : Lead and optimize core functions including, underwriting, servicing, and originations, while automating and streamlining workflows.
- Build Infrastructure : Implement scalable systems and data frameworks that support high-volume funding and new financial products.
- Launch Verticals : Oversee the buildout of new fintech verticals including but not limited to payments, neobank integrations, and credit products.
- International Expansion : Drive cross-border operations starting in Canada, establishing compliance, partnerships, and operational readiness.
- Partner Leadership : Manage key relationships with banks, payment processors, and technology partners.
- Culture & Talent : Build high-performing teams with a focus on accountability, speed, and mission alignment.
Qualifications
10–15+ years of experience in financial technology, payments, credit, or neo banking.Experience scaling a growth-stage fintech or financial services platform.Deep understanding of payments infrastructure, credit risk, and operational process design.Comfortable in founder-led, entrepreneurial environments - fast, flat, and transparent.International exposure (Canada or other cross-border markets a plus).Passionate about building systems that empower small businesses and expand access to capital.Required Skills
Experience in financial technology, payments, credit, or neobanking.
Preferred Skills
