An AmLaw 100 firm with a strong and growing presence in the Pittsburgh market is seeking an experienced Legal Practice Assistant to provide high-level administrative and litigation support to our attorneys. Position Overview :
The Legal Practice Assistant will support attorneys in managing complex litigation matters by handling document preparation, scheduling, filings, and client communications. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and well-versed in federal and state litigation procedures.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, and correspondence to ensure efficient workflow.
- Prepare, edit, proofread, and redline a wide range of legal documents including pleadings, discovery, and motions.
- File legal documents electronically in compliance with Federal and Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure .
- Coordinate hearings, depositions, and client meetings.
- Maintain and organize client and case files (both digital and physical).
- Assist with time entry, billing review, and expense reporting.
- Handle travel arrangements and other administrative support tasks as needed.
- Support new matter setup, including conflict checks and client engagement documentation.
- Work collaboratively with attorneys and team members to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Required Qualifications :
Minimum 7 years of experience as a Legal Practice Assistant or Legal Secretary in a litigation environment .Strong knowledge of Federal and Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure .Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel) , Adobe Acrobat , iManage Work , and DocuSign .Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting while maintaining accuracy.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Must type at least 70 words per minute accurately.Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.Preferred :
Experience with BigHand or similar document management systems.Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.Work Schedule & Environment :
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.Onsite for the first three months , with potential for a hybrid schedule (up to two days remote) based on performance and business needs.Disclaimer :
