Position Summary
As an EHS Specialist at Calbee, you will be a key player in promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring our food manufacturing facility remains safe and compliant. Working alongside the EHS Manager, you'll help implement and maintain our safety programs, reduce risk, and keep our workplace secure for everyone.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and coordinate safety training for employees and contractors.
- Develop new training content based on injury trends and maintain training records.
Safety Audits & Inspections
Conduct routine safety inspections and hazard assessments of work areas, equipment, and facilities to identify potential hazards, document findings, and assist with corrective actions.Monitor PPE use and compliance with safe work practices.Assist with incident / accident investigations, including documentation and evidence gathering.Support root cause analysis and track corrective actions through completion.Compliance & Recordkeeping
Maintain accurate and timely OSHA logs (300, 300A, 301) and other regulatory documentation.Support environmental compliance activities such as hazardous waste tracking.Safety Committee & Communication
Coordinate and facilitate monthly safety committee meetings between managers and floor members.Support safety recognition programs and employee engagement activities.Assist in emergency response procedures and drills to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies or disasters.Support timely reporting and tracking of workers' compensation claims.Coordinate with HR, supervisors, and medical providers to facilitate return-to-work processes.Regulatory & Food Safety Compliance
Follow all relevant OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations.Support EHS-related documentation during audits and inspections.Requirements
Bachelor's degree in environmental health & safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferredProfessional certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, CSP, CIH, CHMM) are a plus3–5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food productionDemonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard identification, and incident investigationStrong attention to detail, organization, and follow-up skillsEffective communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levelsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic safety data tracking toolsPhysical Requirements
