Primary Purpose :
The Staff Accountant I is primarily responsible for performing a full spectrum of financial reporting and accounting assignments primarily focused on Property, Plant & Equipment as well as day to day accounting functions.
Responsibilities / Duties :
- Assist Senior Accountant(s) with :
Accounting transactions for assets under construction.
Capital vs operating expense classification of project spending in compliance with company policy.Maintain and update fixed asset records, including depreciation / amortization.Tracking of inventoried capital and operating spare parts including, purchases, usage, accruals, and repairs.Quarterly and annual inventory counts, helping ensure accuracy and compliancePreparation of various supporting schedules and reports, including fixed asset roll-forward, investing cash flows, inventory tracking, capital project spending, etc.Reconciliations and analyses of general ledger accounts and related sub-ledgers to supporting documentation and schedules.SAP / ERP master data set-up for vendors and projects including system settlements and workflows.Other month-end close activities including accruals for property tax, insurance, etc.Occasional traveling between Houston office and LNG facility in Hackberry, Louisiana.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications : Education :
Requires a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, including the required accounting and business-related courses to qualify for the CPA exam.Experience :
Up to 3 years of relevant experience in an accounting and / or business-related environment.Relevant accounting experience in collegiate, internship, co-op, or part-time work.Specific fixed asset or general ledger accoutning experience preferred but not required.Skills / Knowledge / Abilities :
Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.Intermediate level skills with Microsoft suite products such as MS Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Proficient in analyzing data and providing variance analysis.Capable of overnight travel between Houston, TX and Hackberry, LA.Excellent communications skills. Ability to communicate well with all departments in order to ensure that accounts are accurate.Able to work independently with high accuracy. Ability to work with high precision and attention to detail.Able to meet deadlines and at times under stress due to tight timeline for closing the books.Ability to easily adapt to change in work environment, working with frequent changes or unexpected delays.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions as defined per Company policy.
