Payroll and Benefits Specialist JO#

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will lead the full-cycle administration of payroll and benefits. They will be responsible for creating and maintaining procedures and audits to ensure compliance.

  • Review timecards and enter payroll time data into a HRIS system for bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Ensure accurate administration of garnishments, withholding, and remittance
  • Establish auditing practices to ensure accuracy for each payroll cycle
  • Review tax information and direct deposits
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Serve as a SME on the payroll system and provide training and guidance to HR, managers, and employees
  • Lead benefits administration including open enrollment, new hire enrollment, life event changes, and termination events
  • Foster relationships with brokers and vendors
  • Reconcile monthly insurance billing
  • Update and maintain employee records including paid time off, benefits, promotions, terminations, new hires, and internal job changes and salary increases
  • Administer leave to include processing leave request forms, determining eligibility, and preparing and distributing forms and letters
  • Assist with unemployment claim responses
  • Develop auditing procedures to ensure accuracy for year-end reporting

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Team player attitude and ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to act with integrity and maintain high levels of confidentiality
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal laws
  • High proficiency in MS Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to rapidly shift tasks
