Catholic Music Director Pianist or Organist

The successful candidate forthis position will be a 1099 contractor with Music MinistryInternational and be responsible for thefollowing :

3.2.1.Catholic Music Director. The Catholic Music Directorshall provide the necessary services to perform choir andcongregational leadership and musical expertise for the Mass at theDMAFB Chapel.

3.2.1.1.Qualifications.

a. A willingnessto provide the services in consonance with normal ecclesiasticalliturgical practices.

b. A proven familiaritywith the requirements of Catholic worship.

c. Arecognition that the Catholic Chaplain or his designee will makethe final decision as to the appropriateness of any part of a givenworship event rite or observance including the music selected underthis contract.

d. Demonstrated ability tomaintain healthy functional interpersonal relationships withcoworkers chapel staff and parishioners.

e. Themaintenance of professional standards of conduct and public decorumincluding but not limited to dress and grooming.

f . The contractorshall certify appropriate professional competence by providingevidence of academic certification and / or experience in Catholicmusic performance and choral direction.

The contractor must havethe ability to sight read select and prepare liturgical musicconduct choral and congregational singing and direct accompanistand other instrumentalists.

3.2.1.2. Specific Tasks. The Catholic Music Director is responsible for theselection of music to be used at the liturgical services at theCatholic Community at the DMAFB Chapel in collaboration with theaccompanist and Catholic Chaplain or his Designee.

The musicselections will be made from musical compositions which conform tothe general Roman Catholic tradition. Both traditional andcontemporary music is acceptable for use in liturgical / worshipservices in keeping with the liturgical norms of the Roman CatholicChurch.

The Music Directors responsibilitiesinclude :

a. Select and prepare music for choirmembers and the Catholic Accompanist without violating copyrightinfringement laws.

b. Meet regularly with theCatholic Chaplain and / or his designee for music selection and thegeneral planning and leadership of the music program.

c. Conduct a one hour rehearsal per week perliturgy. The rehearsals must be conducted separate from the liturgyitself. The warm up time prior to a service is considered part ofthe service and not a separate rehearsal.

d.Attend monthly Parish Advisory Council meetings and liturgicalplanning meetings. The contractor shall notify the CatholicChaplain or his designee if unable to attend.

e.Attend a training session on the sound system for each of the twochapels on DMAFB.

f. Provide services forweekend masses which are currently held on Saturday at 5 : 00 p.m.and Sunday at 10 : 00 a.m.

g. Perform at specialservices or liturgies to include the Christmas Cantata asdetermined by the Catholic Chaplain or his designee.

These serviceswill include a 15 to 30minute warm up session before each serviceand the performance of the service itself of generally one but nomore than two hours.

h. The maximum number ofunits available to the contractor is 300 units within a year. Oneunit is equal to one Mass special service liturgy rehearsal parishadvisory council meeting or liturgical planning meeting and paymentwill be based on units actually performed.

3.2.1.3. Replacement Personnel. The Music Director is responsible for continuousperformance through the contract performance period.

If areplacement becomes necessary candidates must meet all contractqualifications. The Government reserves the right to refuse anycandidate if the candidate does not meet all requiredqualifications.

3.2.1.4. Schedule The number of sessions the musicdirector will provide are 52 Saturday Masses52

SundayMasses 104 rehearsals (two a week one for each weekend Mass) and 25sessions for

special services or liturgies 67 units forplanning and preparation of music materials for a

totalmaximum of 300 sessions / units. Each session (each Mass specialservice liturgy or

rehearsal) is considered a unit andpayment will be based on the number of unitsperformed.
