Logistics Manager

Role Summary :

The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the transportation and distribution of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.

This role will ensure the efficient and cost-effective movement of products from point of origin to the final destination, while maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

The role’s primary focus is to reposition agriculture products outside of the US to our facilities in California. This position is located in Sacramento, California.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement global logistics strategies to streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Negotiate contracts and rates with transportation vendors to optimize pricing and service levels.
  • Monitor and analyze transportation metrics and performance data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, procurement, and sales, to align logistics initiatives with business objectives.
  • Work closely with the sourcing / procurement team to track inbound raw materials and estimate delivery to operations for use.
  • Work with regulatory agencies such as the FDA and port authorities to enable the movement of product through customs.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Manage customs compliance and import / export regulations to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
  • Develop contingency plans to address disruptions in transportation networks and mitigate potential risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability in logistics operations.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics management, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong understanding of international transportation modes, including air, ocean, and ground.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, database management, spreadsheet creation, email, internet.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to global trade.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • Oversees the daily workflow of the company’s largest suppliers.
  • Provides constructive and timely feedback to improve performance to various stakeholders.

Physical Demands :

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Travel Required :

  • Travel between company facilities within the Sacramento, CA area.
  • May be required to attend training and industry events as directed by supervisor.
  • Infrequent travel to customer locations or headquarters.

Work Location and Reporting Relationship :

  • This position requires the candidate to be on site in Sacramento, CA daily.
  • Work from home or remote work is not available for this position.
