Job Description
The Lead Teacher Offsite 4K Wrap & Camp is responsible for coordinating daily activities in an early learning program and providing a safe and nurturing environment for early childhood-aged children. This is a year-round position that will transition to camp responsibilities during the summer.
The successful candidate will plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans, serve as a role model to staff and participants, and manage all materials and supplies needed for planned activities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and actively participate in the daily activities of a group of children.
- Serve as a role model to staff and participants and act as the on-site supervisor of the 4K Wrap Care program.
- Manage all materials and supplies needed for planned activities and maintain quality of supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Develop positive relationships with the staff, families, and children while providing motivational support and guidance.
- Build a professional collaboration with local school district administration and staff to develop programming that aligns with district values, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain participant records and other documentation in accordance with department requirements.
- Ensure safety and cleanliness of learning spaces and classrooms.
- Follow the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County's emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all children.
- Uphold the core values of the YMCA when working with people within the YMCA facilities and community.
- Follow all relevant regulations from the Department of Children and Families, Young Star, or other regulatory agencies.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Other duties as necessary and as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age and have 240 hours of experience in an approved education setting.Must have completed high school or equivalent.Must meet Child Care Licensing requirements including one of the following : 2 DCF-approved courses in early childhood education, 48 credits from an institution of higher education with at least 3 credits in early childhood education, an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education, a Child Development Association credential, or otherwise qualified as a School-Age Program Leader through The Wisconsin Registry.Minimum of 240 hours of related experience working with early childhood or school-aged children in an approved setting.Must be able and willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Mandated Reporter, Wisconsin Registry certification, and additional non-credit coursework (as needed) within specified time frame.Must have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations.Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.Strong oral and written communication skills are required.Exhibit the core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.Work Environment And Physical Demands
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. and work indoors and outdoors; must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children; see and hear well enough to keep children safe; and engage in physical activity with children.
