POSITION SUMMARY

The PSSL Early Learning Liaison will support Early Learning projects, programs, and strategies for Promise South Salt Lake, including the implementation of the new "Baby and You Program" in our community.

The Early Learning Liaison will work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and have a close understanding of the community they serve.

They will build trusting relationships that enable them to serve as a liaison between social services and the community to facilitate access to resources and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery.

They will build individual and community capacity by increasing knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of culturally and linguistically appropriate activities and services such as outreach, community education, and advocacy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Program Implementation :

The goal of the "Baby and You Program" is that : All families have the confidence to support the social, emotional, academic, and developmental needs of their children 0-3.

Our approach will include a 9-week workshop for families and caregivers implemented 4 times a year that is centered on the principles of child development and parent / caregiver education.

1.1 Support the development of the program framework.

1.2 Support the recruitment, outreach and engagement efforts for the program.

1.3 Support in collecting qualitative and quantitative performance measures for the program (attendance, surveys, stories / testimonials, demographics, etc.).

1.4 Facilitate the implementation of the program (scheduling, activities, performance measures, etc.) and become a trusted voice that supports community building.

1.5 Facilitate volunteer childcare during the program.

1.6 Plan child enrichment activities to do during the program.

2. Community and Family Engagement :

2.1 Work with community members to connect and creatively remove barriers to accessing early learning resources, programs, and services available that best suit their needs.

2.2 Promote and demonstrate respect for all community members. Create spaces that are safe and welcoming for all.

2.3 Maintain working knowledge of available / current community resources and empower community members with the information to achieve long-term and sustainable outcomes.

Provide follow-up and explanation as needed.

2.4 Attend Promise SSL and other community engagement events and activities with SSL colleagues and partners.

2.5 Support individuals in the completion of surveys, assessments, and other data collection to inform decision making, develop or improve programs, and promote community leadership.

3. Collaboration :

3.1 Act as a liaison between Promise programs, individuals, families, schools, and other community organizations.

3.2 Build genuine relationships with individuals that support overall well-being and healthy development.

3.3 Build and maintain partnerships that enhance programming and services such as : schools, community agencies, businesses, and other Promise SSL partners.

3.4 Collaborate with the Liaison team to implement site-specific community engagement plans, i.e. connecting individuals to resources and services, participant recruitment, planning center events, staffing center hours, family orientations and tours, addressing individual or family concerns, etc.

3.5 Complete projects and duties including home visits, engagement events, outreach efforts, etc.

3.6 Be able to work independently and as part of a team to complete projects and tasks.

3.7 Participate in Promise Council work (Early Learning Network) and be a representative and ambassador of Promise SSL in additional meetings.

4. Administrative :

4.1 Maintain working knowledge of the early learning and child development field, best practices, and resources through training, certifications, and continuous improvement practices.

4.2 Participate in training and technical assistance activities.

4.3 Maintain records of engagement and outreach efforts including home visits, resource pantry utilization, referrals, etc.

through "Unite Us" and other Promise South Salt Lake tracking tools.

4.4 Maintain accurate documentation of staff meetings, professional development logs, and time cards per Promise SSL standards.

4.5 Attend all appropriate meetings (weekly check-ins and staff meetings, Promise councils, etc.), maintain meeting notes, and report back necessary information to involved parties.

4.6 Complete grant reporting and other required documentation on time.

4.7 Collaborate with the Engagement Team on the development of a functional communication plan to ensure regular communication with individuals, partners, and community members, i.

e. monthly newsletter, activity calendars, program notices, event flyers, etc.

4.8 Utilize Promise communication tools and processes including : CC'ing supervisors and key stakeholders on emails, using shared calendars, responding to calls / voicemails / texts in a timely manner, etc.

4.9 Take a creative and flexible approach to the job and its responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience in early learning, child development, education, and / or community engagement.
  • South Salt Lake community members and / or those with knowledge of South Salt Lake demographics, culture, and history are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred : Bilingual or multilingual

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience working with youth, families, and community. Skills and techniques used in community engagement / building settings.
  • Evidence of commitment to the mission of Promise South Salt Lake including family and community empowerment, youth development, and social impact.
  • Proven track record of working with communities from underrepresented or under-resourced populations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong written, verbal and public presentation skills.
  • Ability to self-start, learn new skills, and work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, and the public.
  • Skills in professional office settings, competence in common computer software including Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  • Ability to be trained in First Aid and CPR.
  • Willingness and ability to get fully licensed through the Office of Child Care (on the job training).
  • Knowledge of general department programs and administrative procedures; knowledge of telephone and email etiquette.
  • Ability to engage diverse people and communities through various outreach methods.
  • Demonstration of a high amount of personal integrity and accountability.
