Senior Cyber Security Engineer Secure Processing Solutions (Onsite)

The Secure Processing Solutions (SPS) department is responsible for the design, test and certification of cross domain technologies and cryptographic products which equip our warfighters to thrive in today’s multi-domain battlespace.

Our department collaborates with portfolio teams across the organization to help capture new business and create security hardened solutions that address our customers’ demanding needs.

The SPS Systems Engineering team is seeking a Cyber Engineer who has a passion for innovation and the drive to see new technology and capability matured into fielded solutions.

This role will contribute to a team that is responsible for systems and cyber security engineering tasks related to our next generation security enabled mission computing, crypto, and cross domain technologies, maturing product from low TRL through program of record accreditation and factory production.

No need to be an established subject matter expert, we are looking for talented individuals that love to problem solve and have a desire to grow and gain exposure to new skills.

What YOU will do :

  • You will work closely with a highly motivated and dedicated team of professionals and other internal / external stakeholders while executing system engineering design and development activities for our Cross Domain Solutions and Crypto products.
  • You will participate in the secure systems development lifecycle and help ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into system / subsystem designs that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • You will develop security artifacts to support the Cybersecurity program requirements to include System Security Plans (SSP), Security Assessment Reports (SAR), Risk Assessment Plans & Reports (RAP&R), Security Control Traceability Matrix (SCTM), Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), System Design and Installation Procedures, System User Guides, Privileged User Guides, Security Test Plans & Procedures, and other documents as needed.
  • You will perform cost account management for assigned scope and cognizant of assigned cost and schedule, reporting status, key performance metrics in support of program earned value metrics.
  • You will participate in and facilitate Agile team ceremonies, Agile sprint reviews, user story refinement, increment and sprint execution plans, and end of sprint product demos.

Qualifications You Must Have :

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued secret or higher security clearance is required prior to start date
  • Travel expectations up to 10%.

Skills you must have :

  • Experience with performing secure system and subsystem design, requirements decomposition and management, technical risk management, interface definition, integration and test, and discipline level management.
  • Systems engineering experience developing security hardened systems / products within a classified development environment performing development and certification scope.
  • Experience using the Atlassian resource suite, specifically : Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology

Skills we value :

  • Active U.S. DoD security clearance
  • DoD 8570.01 IA certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CEH.
  • Knowledge of / or experience with STIGs, SCAP, Splunk or other system hardening and compliance, vulnerability assessment, and / or SIEM tools (SCAP, OSCAP, ACAS, SCC).
  • Knowledge of / or experience with Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) Data
  • Knowledge of / or experience with NSA Type 1 product development and certification processes, ensuring compliance with NSA standards and requirements
  • Strong understanding of cryptographic algorithms, protocols, and standards (e.g., Suite B, FIPS 140-2).
  • Previous experience with CNSSI-1253 / NIST SP 800-53 Risk Management Framework.
  • Knowledge of / or experience with Cross Domain Solution product development and certification.
  • Familiarity with Raise-the-Bar (RTB) requirements from the National Cross Domain Strategy and Management Office (NCDSMO)
  • Ability to take on visible leadership role such as Scrum Master or Product Owner.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education / training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and / or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
