The Global Health Communications Manager leads and manages the organization's communication strategies, ensuring effective dissemination of information related to global health initiatives.

This pivotal role involves developing and executing comprehensive communication plans, overseeing content creation, and building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders on a global scale.

The Global Health Communications Manager will support the strategic approaches of ITI. Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the Global Health Communications Manager will implement integrated communication strategies among targeted audiences.

They will be a liaison to ITI partner organization communications and advocacy teams and will oversee communications activities across ITI.

The Task Force for Global Health, founded 40 years ago to advance health equity, works with partners in more than 150 countries to eliminate diseases, ensure access to vaccines and essential medicines, and strengthen health systems to protect populations.

Expertise includes neglected tropical diseases and other infectious diseases; vaccine safety, distribution and access; and health systems strengthening.

The International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) is a partner in the global program to eliminate trachoma as a public health problem.

ITI supports the Global Program through the donation of the antibiotic azithromycin provided by Pfizer; data management;

and advocacy through partnerships. An opportunity at ITI is an opportunity to work at the intersection of global health programs, policy, and advocacy.

As a result of its expertise in supply chain systems management, database management, and the ability to build and strengthen partnerships, in August 2024, ITI was awarded a grant by the Gates Foundation to expand its role to support the promotion of child survival.

This effort aims to reduce all-cause child mortality through mass drug administration of azithromycin to children under 5 in three selected countries : Niger, Nigeria, and Mali through 2028.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Writing and content development :

Lead the writing and development of key messages and content.

Responsibilities include : Lead the creation of impactful and culturally sensitive content for various platforms, including communications to national programs, talking points, blog posts, press releases, articles, social media, and multimedia materials

Interview staff and partners and synthesize relevant information to develop stories

Write, design and manage production of print and digital materials (TEC and Child Survival Expert Committee reports, trachoma and child survival guides, video scripts, slide decks / presentations, one-pagers, FAQs, infographics, etc.)

Lead the development of clear key messages for a variety of target Global Health audiences

Advise on, review, and edit communications materials and research articles drafted by colleagues and partners

Knowledge Management :

Facilitate knowledge management activities by creating and regularly curating updated, user-friendly content and products for the ITI website.

Responsibilities include : Oversee ITI website ((url removed)) and Trachoma Atlas ((url removed)) updating content / web copy when needed, and manage web developers

Design and manage website improvements, changes, and additions

Lead website knowledge management activities, particularly regarding azithromycin shipment updates, ITI milestones, and TEC conclusions and recommendations tracker

Donor and Partner Management :

Contribute to International Coalition for Trachoma Control (ICTC)-related communications, as appropriate

Assist with grant management, including grant proposal writing and reporting on grants that ITI makes to partner organizations

Internal planning and management

Responsibilities include :

Manage all aspects of communications functions including activity and work plans, ITI contact database, ITI implementing partners database with TFGH, systems that streamline content production and placement, and management using (url removed), Smartsheet and other tools

Supervise and provide direction to interns and consultants

Work collaboratively with internal communications groups across the Task Force and among partner organizations to contribute to TFGH-led projects (e.

g., annual report; blogs; press releases related to the ITI program)

Maintain record-keeping and documentation, including ITI’s photo library and materials, and train staff in the use of communications technology as needed

Oversee and maintain ITI branded and promotional materials

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

A master's degree in public health, and four years of experience in the development of marketing and informational materials, writing / research, project management and / or information technology, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience refers to paid or unpaid, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) or other organizations (e.

g. professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student or social).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Experience in global health, or a related field

Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams

Proficiency in digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems

Advanced slide deck / presentation development skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on technical writing, cross-cultural sensitivity, storytelling and / or advocacy

Proven success in designing and creating effective communications products, website content, and related collateral to reach intended audience(s)

Proven ability to synthesize information to develop clear messaging on highly technical subjects for a variety of target audiences

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment

Ability to undertake domestic and international travel (up to 15%), including weekends

NOTE : This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.

Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
